Burger Shop Worcester review

Quality burgers and beautiful fries.

Arch 46, Cherry Tree Walk, Worcester, WR1 3BH

the restaurant

Set in an arch of the railway viaduct in central Worcester, this restaurant successfully mixes modern casual with old industrial. It is fitting that their arch is part of the viaduct that carries trains from Worcester to Hereford as it is in these two cathedral cities that they opened their restaurants. For my review of the Burger Shop Worcester I popped in with Christina and our daughter.

It is a burger joint, so a complex review is not needed. They make burgers, and they make them well. The service was good, with waiters who achieve a great balance between being friendly and efficient.

The clientele were young – ranging from 20 to 40 years of age. Apart, that is, from Christina and I as we significantly raised the average age. The atmosphere was relaxed, and there was a general hubbub of conversation, such that we could talk without being overheard. I loved the open plan restaurant and kitchen layout, which added to the atmosphere.

the food

Excellent. You hope with a burger shop that they do burgers well – and the Burger Shop doesn’t disappoint. We started with a glass of their Apple & Mango Pressed Fruit drink and two glasses of tap water. The fruit drink, according to my daughter, was lovely. There was no charge for the water, which was very well presented in a stylish bottle and two glasses prepared with ice cubes.

All three of us selected the classic burger for varying reasons. For me, I like to taste the burger, so I don’t want the taste impaired by too many fillings. We ordered Rosemary Salted Fries and Sweet Potato Fries. I usually order a slaw, but forgot – so I’ll have to visit again soon.

The burgers were presented on a tin plate. To be blunt, they looked a bit lonely. But that is what we ordered. The fries came in separate pots. The burgers were juicy, tasty, and freshly cooked, and the fries were flavoursome with a crunchy outer surface which I like. Christina says it is the nicest burger she has ever tasted!

We enjoyed this mid-week treat and it was relatively light on the wallet. We will be back.

the drinks

It is a shame I was driving as they have a good selection of craft beers and ciders. There is a small selection of wines and had we selected one it would likely have been the Madregale Pinot Grigio at £21 for the bottle.

A better-than-average list of soft drinks includes three varieties of cold pressed juices.

Menu

around and about the Burger Shop Worcester

The Burger Shop is close to the centre of Worcester. The Odeon cinema is barely a 5-minute walk so it’s ideal for a pre-film meal. Just down the road are the Swan Theatre, Worcester Racecourse, and the riverside.

There is no parking at the restaurant, but there is lots of on-street parking just a short walk away. Crowngate Shopping Centre car park a 5-minute walk. The car park by The Hive is also a 5-minute walk.

There is level access suitable for wheelchairs. The toilets are suitable for disabled users and include hand rails and a low sink.
